The Crazy Man from Huittinen – Eats More than He Earns?

The people from Huittinen  no longer eat more than they earn, as did the man in an old local story.  However, a certain creative craziness exists to this day, in the form of open-mindedness to new ideas and people.  Huittinen and its affluent surrounding areas offer great opportunities for work, business, training, living and free time.

The central location of Huittinen on the regional borders of Satakunta, Pirkanmaa and Varsinais-Suomi (‘Finland Proper’) is one of the core strengths of our town.  To borrow and modify the old Roman phrase, all roads really do lead to Huittinen.

The town’s entrepreneurialism and easy-to-reach central location have helped develop Huittinen into a local commercial centre.  Indeed, measured in turnover Huittinen is the region’s third biggest commercial town, after Pori and Rauma.

In addition to shops and services, the food production chain forms a strong part of our town’s livelihood – from diverse farming right through to large food factories.  Food is made in Huittinen that is known and appreciated at mealtimes throughout the land.

Vibrant commerce, diverse training opportunities and a developing food production chain are strong foundations of our town, upon which it is good to build.  It must also be stated that Huittinen is an active place for sports, recreation and culture activities, offering lots to do for people of all ages.
